UW-Eau Claire Plans Celebration as Part
of UW System Spirit Week

RELEASED: April 8, 2005

'I Am UW' badgeEAU CLAIRE — A weeklong celebration of the many meaningful ways the UW System positively impacts Wisconsin workplaces and communities will include a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire alumni celebration April 15.

UW-Eau Claire alumni are invited to wear their Blugold colors and gather at 9:30 a.m. April 15 on the Central Campus Mall for a gathering that will include refreshments and camaraderie.

Campuses throughout the state will host activities and events April 11-15 as part of the second annual UW Spirit Week.

"There are thousands of UW alumni living and working in the Chippewa Valley, contributing in meaningful ways to our businesses and communities," said John Bachmeier, director of Alumni Relations at UW-Eau Claire. "We're hoping a number of them take the opportunity during UW Spirit Week to let others know that they are proud graduates of the UW System."

Gov. Jim Doyle will sign the UW Spirit Week proclamation April 13 at a ceremony in Madison to be attended by state legislators and representatives from all UW System campuses.

Alumni from all UW schools are encouraged to contact the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Office to receive "I am UW" buttons that they can wear in honor of the Spirit Week celebration. Buttons are available by calling (715) 836-3266.
