Governor-elect Jim Doyle will hold a listening session to hear public input about how to solve the state budget deficit at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
Mary and Amanda Berg will be sitting next to each other on Saturday, Dec. 21, when UW-Eau Claire holds its Winter Commencement in Zorn Arena. The mother-daughter duo from Eau Claire’s north side both majored in management-human resources and will receive bachelor’s degrees in business administration.
The Berg’s UW-Eau Claire experience is truly a family affair.
Mary, age 47, works full time at Hutchinson Technology where she is a materials leader worker. Amanda, age 22, who graduated from North High School in 1998, has a GPA of 3.8 and has completed two internships at the Pleasant Company. Mary’s son Cory, a sophomore at UW-Eau Claire, is in the same major as his mother and sister.

Eight UW-Eau Claire alumni will be honored for their accomplishments at commencement and during a special luncheon Saturday, Dec. 21.
The eight individuals include Michael O’Meara and Andrea Gapko, Alumni Distinguished Acheivement Award; Thomas Bennerotte and Timothy Masterlark, Outstanding Recent Alumnus Award; Katherine Schneider and Sally Webb, Honorary Alumnus Award; and John Dernbach and Tswv Fong Lor, President’s Award. The luncheon featuring the award presentations will be held at 11:30 a.m.in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
