Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony
To Present Free Christmas Concert

         EAU CLAIRE  The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony will present a free concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
         Now in its 22nd season, the Youth Symphony includes nearly 70 youth from Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, Cadott, Elk Mound, Eleva, Knapp, Menomonie, Osseo, River Falls and Thorp.
         The Youth Symphony, directed by Ivar Lunde Jr., professor of music at UW-Eau Claire, will begin the concert with “March of the Nutcracker” from “Nutcracker Suite, Opus 71,” composed by Peter I. Tschaikowsky and arranged by Merle J. Isaac.
         The concert also will include “Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town” by Haven Gillespie and J. Fred Coots, “Overture to Poet and Peasant” by Franz von Suppé and several other pieces.
         The concert is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education and the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony Association.
