EAU CLAIRE —The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s award-winning Jazz Ensemble I will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The concert by Jazz I, directed by Bob Baca, associate professor of music, will feature solos by many of the ensemble’s gifted young performers.
The program will open with “Reet’s Neet” by Phil Woods and continue with “Nees Pleez,” composed and featuring a trumpet solo by band member Andrew Neesly, a senior from Glendale. Michael Mossman’s arrangement of “Con Alma” by Dizzy Gillespie and “Two Franks” by Frank Foster are also included in the program, which will close with another student composition, “Not Quite a Silent Night” by senior Vincent Rose, Farmington, Minn.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.
