Voice and Cello Duo, Chance
To Perform at UW-Eau Claire

MAILED: Nov. 27, 2002

EAU CLAIRE  Chance will perform at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium.
Cheryl Leah and Ed Willett are Chance, one of the only voice and cello duos in the world. In their Artists Series concert they will be joined by percussion and wind players to create a unique quartet sound called “chamber fusion,” a hybrid musical form that springs from classical chamber music, folk, jazz and an emerging genre known as world chamber music.
First heard nationally on the popular TV show, “Northern Exposure,” Chance has intrigued widely diverse audiences in over 30 countries and over the airwaves. The group has a sound that the Los Angeles Times described as “art rock,” and has been praised for its harmony, quirkiness and comic touch.
Admission is $15 for the public, $13 for those 62 and older and UW System or Chippewa Valley Technical College faculty and staff, and $5 for those 17 and younger and UW System or CVTC students. Tickets are available at the University Service Center in Davies Center and will be sold at the door.
Patrons may also charge their tickets to MasterCard or Visa when they order by phone. Call (715) 836-3727 — or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free (800) 949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.
Funded by the students of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Artists Series is supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the state of Wisconsin. The program is administered by the Activities and Programs office.
