Twelve UW-Eau Claire BFA Candidates
Show Work at Foster Gallery
MAILED: Nov. 26, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — Twelve University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire bachelor of fine arts degree candidates will showcase their work in a senior exhibition.
Titled “Write If You Find Work,” the exhibit runs Dec. 5-15 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center and showcases a variety of art, including paintings, drawings, graphic design projects, printmaking and ceramics. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 in the gallery.
“Write If You Find Work” is the combined effort of seniors Mike Jacobsen, Brown Deer; Andrew Knott-Dufresne, Amanda Lowry and Kristine MacCallum, all from Eau Claire; Pamela Meyer, Antigo; Jolee Mickesh, Chippewa Falls; Jessica Morehouse, Austin, Minn.; Jane Philip, DeForest; Lindsay Phillips, Wisconsin Rapids; Sam Servais, La Crosse; and Rebecca Reinhart and Elizabeth Ziegler, Waunakee.
Servais said his illustrations are expressive and fun to create.
“I tend to focus the themes on either intense social/political issues or light-hearted ideas,” he said.
Knott-Dufresne said he likes to work with children’s themes such as nursery rhymes, fables and fairy tales.
“I find it odd that these rhymes we tell our children are so often full of dark imagery,” he said, “and I usually focus my work on these aspects.”
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. weekends. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Tom Wagener at (715) 836-2328.
