EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team took sixth place when they traveled to Whitewater for the Mid-American Forensics Tournament Saturday, Nov. 16.
A team of only freshman and sophomores competed in one of the largest MAFL tournaments to date, said Karen Morris, director of forensics.
“This novice team placed sixth over all,” Morris said, “but several of our sophomores are making a name for themselves.”
Individual results for the tournament are as follows:
Sophomore Andy Bevernitz, Clintonville, placed first in after-dinner speaking and third in prose interpretation. He also qualified for the American Forensics Association tournament.
Sophomore Amanda Dolan, Greenfield, took third in poetry interpretation.
Sophomore Dan Mc Neely, Bloomington, Minn., placed fifth in after-dinner speaking and qualified for the National Forensics Association tournament.
The team will take the next couple weekends off as they prepare to travel to the University of Wisconsin-Stout and Ohio during the first weekend of December.
