To Give Free Concerts at UW-Eau Claire![]()
MAILED: Nov. 21, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — Teague Alexy will perform three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Dec. 5-7. The shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.
A well-respected songwriter and performer on both coasts, Teague Alexy is gaining noticeable popularity in the Midwest since moving to northern Minnesota. As a founding member of the now-defunct San Diego-based hip-hop group Spilled Milk, the New Jersey native played for big crowds on the festival circuit, opened for such stars as SmashMouth and Marvelous Three, and released two highly acclaimed CDs.
Alexy draws from a vivid cross section of artists such as James Taylor, G Love & Special Sauce, and Ben Harper. His music incorporates elements of funk, folk, jazz, hip-hop, reggae and blues. Radio Stonewall described Alexy’s voice as “pure with the timbre of James Taylor, the coolness of Randy Newman and the conviction of Bob Marley.”
“Alexy’s patented blend of folk, jazz and hip-hop is unduplicated anywhere else,” wrote Reader Weekly, “though considering how infectious it is, expect to see imitators cropping up soon. But for now, here’s the original.”
The shows are open to all ages. Soft drinks, domestic and imported beer, wine coolers and popcorn will be sold. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
