To Perform Nov. 25
MAILED: Nov. 11, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women’s Chorus will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. A performance by Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Daniel Newman, associate professor of music, also will be featured during the concert.
The Women’s Chorus, directed by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, director of choral activities, and Alan Rieck, assistant professor of music and theatre arts, will open the concert with “Gloria” by Franz Josef Haydn. The performance also will include “Psalm 100” by René Clausen, featuring freshman Claire Brosel, Burlington, and freshman Laura Hulke, Eau Claire, on piano; “Nigra Sum” by Pablo Casals; and “My True Love Has My Heart” by Eugene Butler. The Women’s Chorus will conclude the concert with a traditional English folk song, “The Smoothing Iron,” arranged by Neufeld.
Women’s Chorus specializes in the study and performance of music written specifically for treble ensemble. The ensemble, one of two female ensembles at the university, is comprised of students from most majors, except music, within the university.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $3.75 for the general public; $2.75 for those 62 and older and children 17 and younger; and free for faculty, staff and students with a university ID.
