Win Five Awards in Graphics Competition

EAU CLAIRE —University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student and staff designers received five awards in the graphics competition at the Association of College Unions International regional conference held Nov. 1-3 at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Two brochures designed by Sarah Karow, Eau Claire, a May 2002 graduate of UW-Eau Claire, received first place awards. The Summer Session Programs brochure won in the student division, and her booklet for the 2002-03 season of the Artists Series and The Forum won in the staff division.
Karow’s series of promotion for The Forum and Artists Series also received honorable mention in the staff division.
Paula Lucas, Becker, Minn., received an honorable mention award in the student division for the Blugold Card series. A poster designed by Derek Wallen, Kenosha, for “The Dark Side of Oz,” a film presented by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate, also received honorable mention.
All students or graduates of the UW-Eau Claire department of art graphic design program, the designers are employed by the Student Services unit of University Centers and Programs.
The Association of College Unions International supports its members in the development of community through education, advocacy and the delivery of services. ACUI Region 8 is comprised of colleges and universities throughout Wisconsin, the upper peninsula of Michigan and the Chicago metropolitan area.
