UW-Eau Claire Women’s Concert Chorale
To Perform Fall Concert Nov. 17
MAILED: Nov. 4, 2002
EAU CLAIRE —The Women’s Concert Chorale at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present a concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Alan J. Rieck, assistant professor of music and theatre arts and director of the Women’s Concert Chorale, said the performance will include music from a wide time frame and a variety of styles. The opening set includes a cappella music from the 16th and 17th centuries, and the second set is comprised of Psalm texts set in various compositional styles, Rieck said.
The concert will open with “Pueri, concinite” by Jacob Handl. The performance will continue with Antonio Lotti’s “Kyrie,” directed by student conductor Sarah Daly, a senior comprehensive music major from Whitefish Bay. The program also will include Christine Temple-Evans’ “Psalm 150,” written for the 2002-03 Women’s Concert Chorale, and “I will Give my Love an Apple,” arranged by Brian Trant, and directed by student conductor Katie Eakright, a senior comprehensive music major from Eau Claire. The Women’s Concert Chorale will conclude the program with “Lily of the Valley” and “Ride On, King Jesus,” both composed by Moses Hogan.
The Women’s Concert Chorale is one of seven choral ensembles at UW-Eau Claire. The group specializes in the study and performance of music written specifically for treble ensembles.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.
