MAILED: Oct. 31, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The Channels, a Minneapolis-based rock band that creates melodic and original guitar-based music, will perform three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Nov. 14-16. The shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin of Davies Center.
The Channels came together in 1998, and the group has played all over the Twin Cities, performing at 7th Street Entry, the Cabooze and the Fineline Music Cafe and opening for the Big Wu and Mason Jennings. The band has released two albums under its former name, Katnapping — “Drowning in a Cola Sea” (1999) and “Broadcast Day” (2001) — and is launching its new name with a free four-song CD available through its Web site.
Members of the band are Chris Koza (vocals, guitar), Pete Sieve (guitar, vocals), Justin Blair (bass, vocals) and Lucas Anderson (drums).
The shows are open to all ages. Soft drinks, domestic and imported beer, wine coolers and popcorn will be sold. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
