Starts Season with Second Place Win![]()

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team started its season off right by taking second place at the Mid-American Forensics League Tournament hosted by the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, this past weekend.
Six UW-Eau Claire students competed in 18 events and all six students broke to finals in at least one event. With a total of 111 points, the team took second to Bradley University’s 135 points.
Individual results are as follows:
Senior Scott Boras, Kellogg, Minn., broke all three of his events and won two of them. He placed first in both poetry interpretation and dramatic interpretation, as well as third in impromptu speaking.
Sophomore Andy Bevernitz, Clintonville, took second in dramatic interpretation and third in communication analysis.
Junior Brandon Buchanan, San Antonio, Texas, placed second in persuasive speaking and fourth in impromptu speaking.
Sophomore Kelly Bender, New London, placed third in after-dinner speaking and took fourth in both persuasive speaking and prose interpretation.
Sophomore Dan Mc Neely, Bloomington, Minn., took second in informative speaking, as well as sixth in prose interpretation.
Sophomore Amanda Dolan, Greenfield, placed fifth in persuasive speaking.
Next on the team’s agenda is the annual Sugar Loaf Classic at Winona State University Oct. 11-12.
