UW-Eau Claire Program to Offer
Healthy Marriage Educational Series
MAILED: Oct. 2, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire School of Nursing and the First Things First Clinic will co-sponsor a Healthy Marriage Educational Series this fall.
The four-part program will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the Nursing Building at UW-Eau Claire on the following Saturdays: Oct. 12, Oct. 26, Nov. 9 and Nov. 23.
Each program will focus on why marriages succeed or fail and highlight principles for making marriages work. Sessions include: “Making a Quality Marriage,” “Recognizing Negative Behaviors,” “Examining Solvable and Perpetual Problems” and “Creating Shared Meaning.”
Sessions will include lectures and practice of different strategies for improving marriages. Couples will interact only with each other in the practice sessions. The sessions are educational; they are not couples therapy.
Couples may attend all four sessions or attend separate sessions.
Dr. Kathy Anderson, a professor of family health nursing department who has been trained in Dr. John Gottman’s couples methods, will be the presenter for all sessions. Therapists from First Things First and senior student nurses also will participate in the program.
For more information or to pre-register, call (715) 832-8432. Cost is $25 per couple per session or $89 for all four sessions.
