Phi Eta Sigma Awards Scholarship To UW-Eau Claire Student
MAILED: Sept. 27, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The national honor society Phi Eta Sigma recently awarded University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire junior Jacqueline Tollison, Portage, a $1,000 Founders Fund Scholarship.
“It was wonderful to spend so much time with the group and get rewarded for it,” said Tollison, who served as treasurer of Phi Eta Sigma during her sophomore year. “I applied for quite a few scholarships, but I was surprised to be honored on a national level.”
Tollison, an elementary education major and Spanish minor, was one of 82 undergraduates nationwide to receive the award. Phi Eta Sigma selected Tollison based on her strong academic record, community service, personal achievement and the recommendation of her local chapter. The money will be used to help cover expenses during the 2002-03 school year.
Phi Eta Sigma promotes high standards of scholastic attainment by recognizing first and second year students who achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Its support of undergraduate and graduate study scholarship programs benefits members at more than 300 colleges and universities throughout the United States.
