UW-Eau Claire to Offer Italian
Language and Travel Seminar
MAILED: Sept. 23, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension will hold an information session about its upcoming language and travel seminar, “Tour of Italy,” from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.
The information session will preview the seminar, which will include a 10-week language course designed to help participants feel comfortable speaking basic Italian during their tour of Italy, scheduled for June 9-18, 2003. Participants will also learn about the history, art, literature and architecture of the cities they will visit: Rome, Florence and Venice.
The information session for the language and travel seminar will include details about the course and trip, including cost, destinations and prerequisites. Tour guide and language instructor Paige Nankivil will be available to answer questions.
Nankivil, who taught both beginning and advanced Italian for the past seven years as a teaching assistant at the University of Minnesota, lived in Italy from 1982-1990 and returns as often as she can. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Italian literature.
The language course, “Essential Italian,” will meet 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 2-June 4, at the UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education Office on Water Street. The deadline for registration is Dec. 6.
