UW-Eau Claire Visiting Professor
Publishes Book on Fiction Writing

MAILED: Sept. 16, 2002

EAU CLAIRE  William H. Phillips, visiting professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, recently published a book titled "Writing Short Stories: The Most Practical Guide." Syracuse University Press published the book, which is the culmination of Phillips' years of experience teaching introductory creative writing courses.
Three major parts of "Writing Short Stories" - Exploring Sources, Studying Stories and Writing Stories - guide readers through the necessary steps to write effective short fiction. Earlier drafts of the manuscript were used in creative writing courses and writers' groups and later revised in response to users' reactions and requests.
Copies of the 140-page book are available at Borders bookstore in Eau Claire and through all major online booksellers.
For more information on "Writing Short Stories: The Most Practical Guide," e-mail Phillips at or call (715) 836-4215.
