EAU CLAIRE — Five students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were inducted during spring semester into the UW-Eau Claire chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda, a music honor society dedicated to the furtherance of music in education and education in music in colleges, universities and other institutions of higher learning. Pi Kappa Lambda also strives to recognize and encourage scholarship and musicianship. Membership is by invitation of music faculty members.
The students honored were Jacqueline Cobian, a senior applied voice and English major from River Falls; Angela Nies, a senior instrumental music education major from De Pere; Amanda Potts, a senior instrumental music education and mathematics major from La Crosse; Paul Rosen, a May 2002 graduate in instrumental music education from Eden Prairie, Minn.; and Loni Schiel, a senior instrumental music education major from East Troy.
Pi Kappa Lambda was founded at Northwestern University in 1918 and admitted to the Association of College Honor Societies in 1940. There are currently approximately 203 active chapters with 58,000 members.
