Dr. Jill Prushiek Receives
Friend of Education Award
MAILED: June 6, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — Dr. Jill Prushiek, associate professor and coordinator of field experience for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire School of Education, received a Friend of Education Award at the Eau Claire Area School District 2002 Celebration of Service Banquet on May 22.
The Eau Claire Association of Educators has presented the award at the banquet, attended this year by 350 school board and district administration members, association officers, teachers and retirees, for more than a decade. The award recognizes Prushiek for her "dedication and hard work on behalf of students in the Eau Claire Schools."
Fred Poss, a Memorial High School veteran English teacher and second vice president of the ECAE, presented the award.
"Jill's personal skills as a listener, communicator, and problem-solver are outstanding, and these skills are essential in the art and science of placing student teachers, " said Poss. "Jill has also come forward as a volunteer who collaborates with our association and the school district in organizing and presenting workshops on mentoring, new teacher induction and new teacher support seminars. As chair of the DPI's state committee for the Initial Educator License for the past three years, I have seen firsthand the dedication, professionalism and depth of knowledge which Jill Prushiek possesses."
Prushiek said that collaborating with the Eau Claire School District to prepare future teachers has been an honor she has thoroughly enjoyed, and that she plans to continue with other projects. "The Eau Claire teachers are the finest people I have ever met," said Prushiek. "Our university is fortunate to work with such gifted teachers and administrators. I am truly grateful to the Eau Claire Educators Association for recognizing me with this award."
