Tim Petermann Named Interim Athletic
Director at UW-Eau Claire

         EAU CLAIRE — Tim Petermann has been appointed interim athletic director for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire effective July 1, Provost and Vice Chancellor Ronald Satz announced today. Petermann will serve in the interim role as the university undertakes a national search for a permanent director. Petermann will not be a candidate for the permanent position.
         "Tim Petermann's appointment provides the greatest flexibility and the least amount of disruption with regard to our athletic teams during this transitional period," Satz said.
         Petermann, a graduate of UW-Eau Claire, has been with the university since 1971. He's served as the assistant to the athletic director and as the sports information director.
         Satz said Associate Vice Chancellor Steve Tallant has an aggressive timeline for the search and screen committee charged with finding a permanent athletic director. Tallant will meet with committee members soon to begin the process.
         The athletic director position vacancy was created earlier this year when Marilyn Skrivseth announced her resignation from the position. Skrivseth will continue to serve as chair of the department of kinesiology and athletics, Satz said.
