Entrepreneur Program Graduates

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's College of Business recently hosted its annual recognition banquet to celebrate its eighth Entrepreneur Class.
Graduates of the 2001-02 Entrepreneur Program class are: Melissa Braier, Wauwatosa; Thomas Bystrzycki, Woodbury, Minn.; Keith Dillinger, Eagan, Minn.; Justin Gardner, Eau Claire; Julia Godfrey, Chesapeake, Va.; Troy Goodweiler, Middleton; Angela Gustafson, Crystal Lake, Ill.; Brian Herian, Woodbury, Minn.; Matthew Hibler, Brookfield; David Hofer, West Salem; Philip Imbery, Cumberland; Mason Kemp, Madison; Gretchen Krueger, Cross Plains; Angie Marking, Waunakee; Christopher Mead, Green Bay; Scott Miles, Hayward; Andrew Ristrom, Brooklyn Center, Minn.; Meghan Royer, Green Bay; Todd Selin, Eau Claire; Lucas Smith, Oregon; Angela Spooner, Gilman; Becky Stella, Middleton; Adam Stewart, Cottage Grove, Minn.; Casey Strauch, St. Paul, Minn.; Jennifer Wiesner, Madison; and Bradley Zaporski, Waukesha.
Also recognized at the banquet were the Entrepreneur Program mentors who provided advice to students throughout the yearlong program, field trip hosts, Mini Business World (a two-day conference sponsored by the Entrepreneur Program for area high school students) business advisers and Entrepreneur Program alumni.
Dr. D. Wallace Weil received the 2002 Outstanding Chippewa Valley Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Becky Stella, Middleton, and Casey Strauch, St. Paul, Minn., received the 2002 Outstanding Entrepreneur Student Written Business Plan Award. Their business, Accent Inc., is a wedding coordinating service specializing in ethnic, alternative and second-time weddings that will expand to market other wedding services by publishing a bi-annual magazine.
Thomas Bystrzycki, Woodbury, Minn. received the 2002 Outstanding Entrepreneur Student Individual Business Plan Presentation Award. His business, Houseboat Vacations Inc., is a houseboat rental company located on the Mississippi River, near the St. Croix River, allowing patrons to have access to both rivers.
Matthew Hibler, Brookfield, and Bradley Zaporski, Waukesha, received the 2002 Outstanding Entrepreneur Student Team Business Plan Presentation Award. Their business idea is Buffalo Joe Adventure Trips LLP, an adventure tour company providing personalized adventure trips with custom itineraries located on the Arkansas River in Buena Vista, Colo.
Angela Gustafson, Crystal Lake, Ill., was named the 2002 Outstanding Entrepreneur Student of the Year.
The UW-Eau Claire College of Business Entrepreneur Program was endowed in 1995 with the creation of the Dennis L. Heyde Chair of Entrepreneurship to benefit the program. The Chair, established by Dennis and Carol Heyde of Chippewa Falls, was the university's first endowed chair. The $1.5 million endowment fund supports the development of the program and other initiatives of the Entrepreneur Program.
The Entrepreneur Program provides a special learning experience for senior business students who aspire to start their own business, manage family businesses, or work in growth-oriented organizations.
