MAILED: May 6, 2002

EAU CLAIRE  The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Office of Continuing Education will be offering a variety of programs for registered nurses and health care professionals in June.
"Anxious in America-Part II: Clinical Insights into Assessing and Managing Anxiety Disorders" will be offered 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at the UW-Eau Claire School of Nursing. Registered nurses, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers and other healthcare professionals who work with individuals with anxiety disorders can attend this program to gain clinically oriented information from Dr. Brad Riemann, Clinical Director, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Center at Rogers Memorial Hospital, Oconomowoc.
Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, psychologists, social workers and administrators can attend "Tardive Dyskinesia Assessment and Monitoring" 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, at the UW-Eau Claire School of Nursing. John Kalachnik, a noted expert in tardive dyskinesia monitoring systems, will review the clinical presentations, epidemiology and treatment of this potentially disabling disorder. Kalachnik will provide participants with the clinical instruments to properly assess and monitor TD through the use of videotaped case studies and practice sessions.
"Foot and Nail Care: Education for Nurses" will be held 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, June 20, and 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, at the UW-Eau Claire School of Nursing. This two-day program for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, wound care nurses and diabetic educators provides foundational information about foot and nail care. Sessions will include patient teaching activities, identification and treatment of selected conditions of the skin and nails, foot and nail management, and hands-on clinical practice.
"On the Road to Healthier Communities: The Fifth Annual Public Health Nursing Conference" will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at the Holiday Inn, Stevens Point.
UW-Eau Claire, in cooperation with UW-Extension, awards continuing education units and contact hours for these classes. Early registration, at least 15 days prior to the program, is preferred to guarantee space and prevent cancellation. You may register online at www.uwec.edu/ce/  and follow up with payment. Fees vary for each program.
For more information about all the classes offered or to register, contact Barbara Severson, UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education, at (715) 836-5745.
