Spring Concert Set for May 11![]()

EAU CLAIRE — The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony will present a spring concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
In its 21st season, the symphony, conducted by Ivar Lunde Jr., professor of music, has grown to include more than 70 students from Chippewa Falls, Menomonie and the greater Eau Claire area.
Opening the program is "Lincoln Scenes for Symphony Orchestra" by Vaclav Nelhybel. Six other works will be performed, including three movements from "Six Norwegian Dances", Op. 82, by Lunde, "Trepak" from "The Nutcracker Suite," Op. 71a, by Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky, "The Teasing Violin" from "The Laughing Violin" by Kai Mortensen and "Hungarian Dance No. 6" by Johannes Brahms, arranged by Merle Isaac.
The Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony Association and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Arts and Sciences Continuing Educations/UW Extension are sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.
