EAU CLAIRE  The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present a Choral Union concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in Zorn Arena on the UW-Eau Claire campus.
Conducted by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, associate professor of music, and Nobuyoshi Yasuda, assistant professor of music, three UW-Eau Claire ensembles - University Orchestra, Concert Choir and Symphonic Choir - will come together to perform in an hour-long choral and orchestral rendition of two Beethoven pieces.

Soloists are professor of music Kathryn Proctor Duax, associate professors of music Daniel Newman and Robert Knight and associate lecturer of music Elizabeth Hellman.
The second and final song will be "Choral Fantasie," Op. 80, written in 1808 for one of Beethoven's "Academy" concerts at which he presented new compositions. Six student soloists will perform. They are seniors Janine Brinkman, New Hope, Minn., Jennifer Weber, Menomonie, and Sam Wulterkens, Stanley; junior George Cleary, River Falls; and sophomores Amanda DePons, New Berlin, and Steve Howe, St. Paul, Minn.
