UW-Eau Claire To Offer Two
Photo Classes for Summer Interim
MAILED: April 23, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is offering two photography courses during the summer interim session from May 20 through June 7.
A digital photography course will provide instruction in the three main areas of digital photography: sources for photographs, computer processing of images with Adobe Photoshop and presentation of finished work for display as prints or in electronic form.
The three-credit course is appropriate for both beginning and intermediate levels and is particularly useful for art educators, illustrators, graphic artists and fine artists.
Students can take the course as ART 481, "Advanced Photography," or ART 797, "Graduate Independent Study." It will run from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, in Rooms 217/219 and 207/209 of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Steve Terwilliger, professor of art, is slated to teach the class.
A $35 lab fee is required to cover the cost of a number of inkjet prints. Course participants also must pay for film, processing and additional printing costs. Three digital cameras and a 35-millimeter SLR camera will be available on a rotating basis.
"Beginning Black and White Photography," ART 281, is a studio introduction to the aesthetics and techniques of black and white photography as a medium of expression. Students will produce a variety of images and discuss contemporary and historic images during the three-credit, undergraduate course.
Deirdre Monk, assistant professor of art, will be the instructor. The class will run from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, in Room 207 of the Haas Fine Arts Center. A special course fee of $35 is required.
