UW-Eau Claire Wellness Fair
Set For March 14

MAILED: Feb. 28, 2002

EAU CLAIRE  The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is celebrating its 13th annual Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, in Davies Center.
According to Sarah Harvieux, coordinator of the Wellness Fair and health educator with the Student Health Service, the annual fair is devoted to the social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual dimensions of wellness. This year's theme, "Choose Well, Live Well," recognizes that wellness is a choice we each must make in order to enjoy a healthy and balanced life.
Exhibitors, including Sacred Heart Hospital, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Eau Claire City-County Health Department and Luther Midelfort, will showcase the array of health resources available in the Eau Claire area.
Local businesses will donate door prizes, including a mountain bike from Scheels All Sports. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.
Dr. Alicia Chavez, a Women's History Month guest lecturer, will lead a brown bag lunch discussion titled "Finding Balance" at noon in the Presidents Room of Davies Center. She will present faculty, staff and students with strategies for finding balance in their personal and professional lives.
Chavez will give a more formal presentation, "Spirit, Balance and Nature: Reflection of a Mestiza in Higher Education," at 4 p.m. in Schofield Auditorium.
University Recreation will hold an Aerobics Extravaganza from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Room 199 of the McPhee Physical Education Center. The event is free, and there will be drawings for prizes.
The Wellness Fair is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Student Health Service, Peer Counselors, University Recreation and Housing and Residence Life.
