Redistricting Plan Access![]()
MAILED: Feb. 14, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — It happens every ten years. Congressional and state legislative districts are redrawn to reflect Wisconsin's changing population as measured by the U.S. Census.
Chippewa Valley residents now have the opportunity to participate in the statewide redistricting plan. As a public service to citizens in the region, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is providing access to the WISE Legislative Redistricting CD-ROM. WISE-LegRed allows users to create their own versions of congressional, assembly and state senate districts based on ward information submitted by counties and municipalities. Citizen created plans may be considered by government officials working to redraw district lines.
The software program has been installed on two public computer terminals in UW-Eau Claire's McIntyre Library Government Publications department. The department is located on the first floor of the library, directly behind the reference desk. The CD-Rom is available whenever the reference desk is staffed. A print copy of the PowerPoint WISE instruction program and practice session also is available.
Reference desk hours are:
- Sunday 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9:30 p.m.
- Monday-Wednesday 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
- Thursday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9:30 p.m.
- Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Saturday 12:30-4:30 p.m.
For additional information, visit the WISE Web site or call Leslie Foster, Head of Government Publications, (715) 836-3247 or Mary Hayden, Government Publications Library Assistant, (715) 836-3421.
