UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education
Offering Nurses Retreat

MAILED: Feb. 12, 2002

EAU CLAIRE  The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education and UW-Extension are sponsoring a retreat, "Tending the Heart: A Time of Nurturing and Spiritual Renewal for Parish Nurses," March 7-9 at Saint Bede Monastery and Center in Eau Claire.
The retreat, which runs from noon Thursday, March 7 to noon Saturday, March 9, is designed to offer parish nurses an opportunity to be ministered to and refreshed as they seek renewal of the physical, mental and spiritual resources called for in their demanding jobs. The three days will include free time, as well as opportunities for worship, prayer, reflection and small group experiences with other caregivers.
Sister Doris Klein, a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Agnes, will offer presentations each day. Sister Klein has degrees in art education and secondary school administration and served as a school administrator for several years. Since 1989 she has ministered as a full-time artist and lecturer known for her watercolor work and her presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
Saint Bede Monastery and Center, owned and operated by the Sisters of Saint Benedict, is located on 110 acres of wooded land overlooking the Eau Claire countryside. The adjacent Saint Bede Priory is the home of a community of women who follow the Benedictine Rule - a monastic way of life devoted to community living, prayer, hospitality, work and a respectful stance toward all of life.
The $150 fee includes two nights lodging, meals, refreshments and conference materials. Participants may earn up to 13.7 contact hours from UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Nursing, Eau Claire, which is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Wisconsin Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Program Committee.
