Public Planetarium Programs
Under Way at UW-Eau Claire
MAILED: Feb. 11, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire recently kicked off its Spring 2002 Public Planetarium Programs.
The programs will be held at 7 p.m. most Tuesdays throughout the semester at the L.E. Phillips Planetarium in Phillips Science Hall.
"Wonders of Deep Space," featured Feb. 12, 19, 26 and May 7, runs about 60 minutes and discusses stars, nebulae and other deep-space objects. This program is aimed at adults but is also appropriate for children 14 and older.
The March Night Sky Series includes "Finding Deep Sky Objects" on March 12 and "The Changing Seasons" on March 19. Both programs, for adults and children 10 and older, are 50-minute lectures on constellations and changes in the night sky.
On April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, the attraction will be "Mr. Genius Tours the Solar System," a light-hearted, 45-minute introduction to astronomy that's fun for adults and children as young as 6.
Tickets are $1 and must be purchased in advance at the University Service Center in Davies Center (836-3727).
For more information, or to find out about group programs, contact Lauren Likkel, associate professor of physics and astronomy, at 836-5034 or firstname.lastname@example.org , or visit the planetarium Web site.
