Offers Help to Local Food Pantry
MAILED: Feb. 4, 2002
EAU CLAIRE — "Soup's On," an initiative for feeding the less fortunate, will be presented Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The dinner will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Riverview Cafe of Hilltop Center.
Patrons may enjoy soups, breads and beverages while contributing to the efforts of Feed My People, an Eau Claire food pantry that distributes donated food and other products to non-profit agencies serving senior citizens, single parents, the working poor, the homeless, the mentally ill and others in need throughout the Chippewa Valley.
Once each semester the usual evening bill of fare at the Hilltop Center cafeteria is replaced with soup and bread. Half of the cost of each meal is donated to the food pantry by Chartwells Educational Dining Services, sponsor of the event since November 1995. The fund-raiser passed the $10,000 mark last semester.
The cost for meal plan participants is $3.10 (tax included) for those on the declining balance meal plan, or one meal deduction for those on the 10-meal plan. Blugold Account holders pay $5.19 (tax included). The cash price is $5.77 plus tax.
Additional meal plan dollar, Blugold Account and cash contributions to Feed My People will also be welcome at tables in Riverview Cafe, Hilltop Center Food Court and in The Terrace of Davies Center.
UW-Eau Claire's dining services program is administered by University Centers and Programs.
