EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Feb. 4. All events are free and open to the public.FRIDAY, FEB. 8:
- Saxophonist and UW-Eau Claire alumnus Tom Luer will present a guest recital at 4 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. An in-demand freelance musician throughout southern Kansas, Luer is also an active jazz educator and currently the jazz artist in residence and instructor of music at Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. His program will include four works, including Erwin Dressel's "Partita" and Walter Hartley's "Petite Suite." Luer will be assisted by Judy Lies on piano.
SUNDAY, FEB. 10:
- Nanette Lunde, professor of music, will present a harpsichord recital at 4 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will feature seventeenth-century French unmeasured preludes for harpsichord, which Lunde recently studied and recorded during a sabbatical leave. The performance will include the work of eight known composers, including Louis Marchand and Jean Henry d'Anglebert, as well as several anonymous preludes from manuscript sources.
