EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students can explore internship opportunities and acquire employment tips at Internship Mania 2002, a free event to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
Numerous employers from the Chippewa Valley, other Wisconsin regions, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois will staff booths highlighting their companies and internship opportunities in several areas, including chemistry, social work, communications and business.
"It allows students to do some face to face networking with a variety of employers," career counselor Derek Solheim said of the event.
Solheim said interning is a critical task for students of all majors. "In the past, internships were looked at as optional," he said. "But now they've almost become required."
The event, which drew about 1,500 students and 100 employers last year, also includes resume and cover letter critiques.
Limited space is available for employers who still wish to purchase booth space. Registration for the event is available online at Internship Mania and costs $70, which includes one six-foot table, coffee, rolls and lunch.
Employers interested in attending but who do not have the necessary funding may apply for an employer scholarship.
For more information, contact Solheim at (715) 836-3956.
