University Theatre Announces
Cast of 'Medea'

         EAU CLAIRE  The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's University Theatre will perform Euripides' 'Medea.' Richard Nimke, assistant professor of music and theatre arts, is directing the play.
         The telling of the well-known Greek legend of Jason and his wife Medea opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in Riverside Theatre. Additional performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8; 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9; and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, Dec. 12 -15.
         Senior Molly Berg, Coon Rapids, Minn., will play Medea and Kurt Hranicka, a junior from Cottage Grove, Minn., will play Jason.
         Emily A. McPeck, a junior from Clayton, will play the Nurse; sophomore Eric Traxler, Boyceville, will play Aegeus.
         Creon will be played by senior Aaron Zook, Fall Creek; junior Joshua K. Paffel, Spooner, will play the Tutor.
         Women of the chorus will be played by junior Colleen Giles, Eau Claire, as first woman, and sophomores Anna Jeanette Figlesthaler, Wauwatosa, and Kelly Lee Kriesel, Madison, as second and third woman respectively.
         Junior David Crawford, Eau Claire, and sophomore Zachary Verriden, Stoughton, will play soldiers. Rob Vanderloop, a senior from Kaukauna, will play Jason's slave.
         Community members Drew Lehmann, Fall Creek, and Dustin Shimoda, Eau Claire, will play elder son and younger son respectively.
         Chandra LaViolette, a senior from Manitowoc, is the stage manager and senior Rob Susedik, Eau Claire, will be providing the sound design.
         Jody Sekas, theatre faculty, is the scenic and lighting designer. Costume design is by Faye Fisher-Ward of Minneapolis.
         Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $8 for the general public; $6 for those 62 and older and children 17 and younger; and $5 for students, faculty and staff with a university ID.
