EAU CLAIRE — Six University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire bachelor of fine arts degree candidates will display their works in the first of three senior shows.
Titled "In Progress," the exhibit runs Dec. 7-10 and showcases a variety of art, including ceramics, illustration, wire and painting. A reception for the show will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7, in Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
"In Progress" is the combined effort of seniors Kristy Foss, Hazel Green, John Lewis, Rice Lake, Nicholas Moen, La Crosse, Jay Overson, Mantorville, Minn., Corey Scheunemann, Vesper, and Kevin Zappa.
Floss said that her work is an extension of her thoughts, ideas and emotions. The clay she uses is a tool for her to make these ideas exist in space, she said.
Moen, whose work is primarily illustration, said his work is a fusion of realism and illustration.
"There is no mistaking that the works are drawings," he said. "But the subject matter is drawn from my real life experiences."
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 1 to 4:30 p.m. weekends. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Tom Wagener at (715) 836-2328.
