EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Symphony Band will perform a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Under the direction of Rodney Hudson, associate professor of music and theatre arts, the 55-member ensemble will perform six works from a variety of cultures, including Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich's "Folk Dances;" Frank Ticheli's "An American Elegy," which is a tribute to the survivors at Colorado's Columbine High School; and Vasilij Agapkin's "A Slavic Farewell," a march as popular in Russia as John Phillip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" is in the United States.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older and children 17 and younger, and faculty or staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.
