EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Nov. 26. All events are free and open to the public.MONDAY, NOV. 26:
- Junior double bassist John Brobst, St. Cloud, Minn., will perform a student recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Sue Opland will provide accompaniment on the piano. Various works will be performed, including Sonata for Double Bass by Paul Hindemith and Sonata No. 2 for Viola Da Gamba by J.S. Bach.
TUESDAY, NOV. 27:
- Horn Studio will perform a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Fine Arts Center. The ensemble will perform pieces by W. A. Mozart, Paul Hindemith, Franz Strauss and Franz Haydn.
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 28:
- Seniors Meredith Sipe, Stillwater, Minn., and Janine Brinkman, New Hope, Minn., will perform a joint recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Various works will be performed, including "La Noche del Llano Abajo" by Juan Plaza, "Someone is Sending Me Flowers" by David Baker and "The Man I Love" by George Gershwin.
- Flute Choir will perform a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Various works will be performed, including Sonata III for Three Flutes by J.B. Boismortier, Flute Quartet by W.J. Sydeman and "Arousez vo violette" by Adrian Willaert.
- An Opera Scene Recital will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Students and faculty will perform an adaptation of "Marriage of Figaro," an opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The setting is a real estate office and modern technology is in place. This adaptation by director Robert Knight, associate professor of music and theatre arts, is a different showing of an operatic masterpiece.
THURSDAY, NOV. 29:
- Senior clarinetist William Olson, Circle Pines, and junior clarinetist Jennifer Phillips, Appleton, will perform a joint student recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Community member Judy Lies will provide accompaniment. Various works will be performed, including Gereld Finzi's "Five Bagatelles" and Henri Rabaud's "Solo De Concours."
- Senior Jason Breen, Montevideo, Minn., will perform a saxophone recital at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Lies will provide accompaniment. Four works will be performed, including "Murasaki No Fuchi 1" by Ryo Noda and "Concertion Da Camera" by Jacques Ibert.
