EAU CLAIRE — One of the world's most promising young euphonium artists will be presented in recital on Monday, Nov. 26, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The recital will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall.
Mark Jenkins, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., will present a recital that will include popular light classic works such as the "Vocalise" by Rachmaninoff, as well as important contemporary works for euphonium, including German composer Rolf Wilhelm's "Concertino."
Jenkins will be accompanied by Dr. Barbara Young, an acclaimed pianist and UW-Eau Claire lecturer in music.
Currently finishing a degree in euphonium performance at the University of North Texas, Jenkins won the prestigious Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Solo Competition in 2000 and was the second prize winner of an international solo competition held by the International Tuba/Euphonium Association in Lahti, Finland, in August of this year.
The concert is free and open to the public.
