EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student and staff designers received nine awards in the graphics competition at the Association of College Unions International regional conference held Oct. 26-28 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
In the student division, one first place and two honorable mention awards were received for posters designed by Derek Wallen, Kenosha, to promote events sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. The 2001-02 season booklet for The Forum and Artists Series created by Norman Orstad, Rogers, Minn., class of 2001, received first place; his Davies Center building directory brochure received honorable mention. Orstad and student graphic designer Sarah Karow, Eau Claire, shared a first place award for their series of event promotion for this season's Forum and Artists Series.
In the staff division, a booklet chronicling the 60 seasons of The Forum lecture series, designed by graphic design coordinator Jennifer Walde, Eleva, class of 2000, was awarded first place. Walde's Summer Session Programs 2001 brochure received honorable mention, as did her poster for last season's Artists Series presentation of the Lyra Concert Baroque Orchestra.
