MAILED: Oct. 31, 2001
EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Concert Chorale will perform a fall concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The Women's Concert Chorale is under the direction of assistant professor of music and theatre arts Alan Rieck.
The concert will begin with "Let All the World in Every Corner Sing" by Sven Lekberg. A total of 11 selections will be performed, including "Ave Maria" by Francesca Caccini, movements one and two from "Three Motets," Op. 39 by Felix Mendelssohn and "How Merrily We Live" by Michael Este.
"Wir eilen mit schwachen doch emsigen Schritten" by Johann Sebastian Bach will be sung in memory of the former Women's Concert Chorale conductor and UW-Eau Claire professor emeritus of music Stephen J. Rosolack, who died in September of this year.
The Women's Concert Chorale is comprised of female students from many scholastic disciplines within the university. In addition to its regular concerts during the year, the group tours annually, performing significant works from all historical periods. The ensemble will be taking this program to Madison on their annual tour Nov. 14-16.
