Leinenkugel and Miller Fund Second
in Series of Business Scholarships
MAILED: Oct. 26, 2001
EAU CLAIRE — The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. in Chippewa Falls and its parent company, Miller Brewing Co., have made the second in a series of $25,000 gifts to fund scholarships in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Business.
The most recent gift creates the college’s first endowed marketing scholarship, the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company Marketing Scholarship. The $1,000 award will recognize outstanding marketing students who exhibit leadership potential. Its first recipient will be named in fall 2002.
“It is fantastic to have a company, such as the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co., establish ongoing scholarships for students,” said Robert Sutton, management and marketing department chair. “As the cost of a college education has continued to rise, more and more students have found it difficult to continue their education without working an increasing number of hours. Scholarships, like the ones being established by the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co., are significant as they allow students to spend more time on their studies and enable them to get the most out of their college education.”
Leinenkugel and Miller made an initial $25,000 gift, which established the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company College of Business Scholarship program, last December. The program, to be implemented through a series of gifts over five years, eventually will award four $1,000 diversity scholarships and two $1,000 marketing scholarships to College of Business students each year. The program's first scholarship, a diversity scholarship, was awarded in May.
