EAU CLAIRE — NEXUS, a group
focused on bridging the gap between research and practice in occupational and
classroom settings, will present the seminar “Improving the Work and School
Environment” Thursday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Nov. 30, at the Radisson Center in
La Crosse.
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing
Education, Marshfield Clinic’s Center for Community Outreach and CESA 4,10 and
11 are co-sponsoring the program.
The event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday
and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, will focus on building skills necessary to form
healthy productive teams. Topics include collaboration, decision making, how to
deal with rumors and dissent, consensus building, problem solving in teams,
leadership and wellness.
Michael McGowan, president of the training and
consultation firm McGowan Associates, is the program facilitator. McGowan is a
well-known speaker who has spent the last 21 years working with families and
children as an educator, youth care worker, family counselor, alcohol and drug
counselor and trainer.
The fee for both days is $175 and covers instruction,
instructional materials, breaks, one continental breakfast and two lunches. The
fee for Nov. 29 only is $100 and covers instruction, instructional materials,
break and lunch.
Educational credit options include 11 equivalency clock
hours from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and 12 hours of
continuing education units from UW-Eau Claire and one graduate credit from
