EAU CLAIRE — The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire theatre program kicks off its 2001-02 season with “A
Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” a zany musical based on the
book by Burt Schevelove and Larry Gelbart.
Performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18-20 and
23-27 and 1:30 p.m. Oct. 28, with a special high school performance at 9 a.m.
Oct. 23. All performances will be in Kjer Theatre.
Dr. Terry Allen, professor of music and theatre arts,
will direct the musical, with senior, Rob Susedik, as assistant director and
stage manager. Musical direction is by Dr. Robert Knight, associate professor of
music and theatre arts.
Cast members include community member Maurice Alessandro,
as a Protean and seniors Molly Berg, Coon Rapids, Minn., as Gymnasia;
Anthony Brown, Plymouth, as Pseudolus; Erin Corrine Conery, Beloit,
as Philia; David W. Harks, Milwaukee, as Erronius; Rob Vanderloop, Kaukauna,
as Hysterium; and Aaron Zook, Fall Creek, as a Protean. Junior cast
members are Anna Jeanette Figlesthaler, Bayside, as Vibrata; Kelly Lee
Kriesel, Madison, as a Protean; Michelle Krueger, Watertown, as
Domina; Emily A. McPeck, Clayton, as half of The Geminae; and Joshua
Paffel, Spooner, as Senex. Sophomore cast members include Sarah Brand, East
Sussex, England, as half of The Geminae; Sara Danke, Wales, as
Tintinabula; Amanda DePons, New Berlin, as Panacea; Kale William Nelson, Frederic,
as Hero; and Tony Tompkins, Eau Claire, as Miles Gloriosus. Guthrie
Horgan, Chaska, Minn., as a soldier and Nathan Kalmoe, Neenah, as
Marcus Lycus, are the two freshmen cast members.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center (715)
836-3727 or 1-800-UWEC, are $9 for adults; $7 for those 62 and older and
children 17 and younger; and $6 for UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff
with a university ID.
