MAILED: Sept. 13, 2001
EAU CLAIRE — The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire Recreation will offer Wednesday night classes on Chinese 18
postures, acu-yoga and tai chi.
Chinese 18 Postures is a series of gentle stretching and
breathing postures to help resolve and avoid stiffness and achy muscles.
Participants will learn to strengthen and lubricate joints and improve their
posture and balance. The class is from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 26-Oct. 31,
in Room 106 of McPhee Physical Education Center. Course fee is $20 for UW-Eau
Claire students, faculty and staff and $35 for community residents.
Tai Chi, offered from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept.
26-Oct. 24, in the McPhee Dance Studio, will develop and maintain the health of
both the mind and the body. The slow rhythmical circularity of the movements
establishes a calm mind and a relaxed body, capable of neutralizing the mental
and physical stresses which often result in “disease.” Course fee is $25 for
UW-Eau Claire students, faculty and staff and $40 for community residents.
A blend of traditional hatha yoga postures, breathing
focus, and access to the acupressure and acupuncture points is utilized in the
practice of acu-yoga. Body, mind and spirit are all addressed in this
three-in-one yoga class, offered from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept.26-Oct.
24, in the McPhee Dance Studio. Course fee is $22 for UW-Eau Claire students,
faculty and staff and $37 for community residents.
