EAU CLAIRE — The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education and UW-Extension will offer a
beginning through advanced math program titled “Math for Young Achievers”
during the fall semester.
“Math for Young Achievers” is a multi-level program
for elementary and middle school students who enjoy learning about different
topics in mathematics. The program is designed to aid in the growth of
students’ abilities in mathematics and increase their self-confidence.
Level 1-5 classes will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays,
Sept. 17 - Dec. 3. Advanced math will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept.
19 - Dec. 12. All classes will meet in Hibbard Hall. Students will be placed in
classes at the first class meeting and monitored for several weeks to ensure
proper placement.
Mathematics undergraduates supervised by a math professor
will teach levels 1-5. UW-Eau Claire math majors and professors will teach
advanced math.
The cost for the semester is $150 for tuition and
materials for level 1-5 classes and $225 for tuition and materials for advanced
math. Registration deadline is Sept. 12. The program also will be offered during
the spring semester (beginning Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Monday, Feb. 4) and
students may enroll for one or both semesters.
