MAILED: Sept. 5, 2001
EAU CLAIRE — Upper elementary,
middle and high school students in the Chippewa Valley are invited to
participate in the 21st season of the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony. The
program offers a creative outlet for young musicians and a symphony experience
to complement school music programs.
Ivar Lunde, Jr. will again manage and conduct CVYS.
University student musicians also work with the orchestra and with youth
symphony students in small group sessions. Acceptance into CVYS is by need and
seating is determined through an informal audition.
Rehearsals will be held from 6 to 7:50 p.m. Tuesdays,
Sept. 11-Dec. 11 and Jan. 29-May 7 in Room 139 of the Haas Fine Arts Center at
the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Concerts are scheduled for 3 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 15 and May 11 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Center.
Fees for the year are $70 and can be divided into two
payments. Full or partial financial aid is also available.
Pre-registration is encouraged, but students may register
and pay the first fee installment on-site at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Room
139 of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Students should bring their instruments for
auditions.
