MAILED: Aug. 6, 2001
EAU CLAIRE Community members
are invited to take courses at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire again
during the fall semester.
Two informational sessions will be offered in August to
help community members gather the information they need about opportunities
available to them at UW-Eau Claire. A special night also again will be set aside
to allow community members to talk with university staff, select courses and
enroll for fall semester.
The following sessions are open to the community:
- Back-to-School Program This program cosponsored by
Sigma Gamma Zeta II, the nontraditional student honor society is designed
for community members who are interested in taking a class or who already have
enrolled for the fall semester but want more information about all the campus
resources available to them. It also gives returning adult students a chance to
meet other nontraditional age students. Sessions will be offered from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22.
- Adult Passport Program Returning adult students who
plan to take their first college math and/or English class this fall are
encouraged to attend this session. Participants will take the math and/or
English UW System Placement Test, which will help ensure students get into the
appropriate math or English class. General information about university programs
and opportunities also will be shared. The session will be offered from 8:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25.
- Community
Registration Night Community members interested in taking classes this
fall may attend Community Registration Night. A list of open classes will be
available, and university staff will be on hand to help community members select
and enroll in courses for the fall semester. Business and financial aid staff
will be available to discuss payment options (a $100 down payment is required at
the time of registration), students can rent or buy textbooks, and the Parking
and Transportation Services office will sell parking permits. By the time a
person walks out the door, he or she will be ready to begin the fall semester.
The session will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in Schofield
Hall.
All three sessions are free, but participants must
register for the Back-to-School and Adult Passport Programs by calling the Adult
Opportunity office at (715) 836-3259. Anyone may attend Community Registration
Night, and preregistration is not necessary. Free parking will be available in
the Schneider, Hibbard and Visitor parking lots during all three sessions.
UW-Eau Claires fall semester classes start Tuesday,
Sept. 4.
For more information about opportunities for returning
adult students, call Debbie Gough at (715) 836-3259.
