EAU CLAIRE — The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire Office of Public Safety and the Wisconsin Office of Justice
Assistance will sponsor a law enforcement seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday and Friday, Aug. 23-24, in the Menomonee and Oneida Rooms of UW-Eau
Claire’s Davies Center.
The seminar, “First Responders, Investigative
Strategies for Sexual Assault,” is designed to assist the first responder in
conducting an effective and efficient investigation. Topics covered will include
developing an understanding of the dynamics of sexual assault and its effects on
victims, understanding state statutes and terms related to sexual assault and
related crimes, identifying types of sexual assaults, conducting appropriate
interviews and identifying resources for victims.
Training is free to local law enforcement agencies
because of a federal grant to the state under the Violence Against Women Act,
Law Enforcement Training Program.
Registration deadline is Aug. 15. Enrollment is limited.
The second day is a repeat of the first to allow more officers to attend.
