MAILED: June 28, 2001
EAU CLAIRE — Jim Lowe, director of
Computing and Networking Services at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire,
will serve as the interim director of the Media Development Center. He will take
over for the current director, Bob Fuller, who is retiring at the end of this
month.
Upon the recommendation of Margaret Dwyer, associate vice
chancellor and chief information officer, Provost and Vice Chancellor Ronald
Satz announced the one-year appointment, effective July 1. The appointment is
concurrent with Lowe’s position as director of CNS, which he has held since
1999. Satz said he will conduct a search during the coming year for a classroom
services manager, a key responsibility of Fuller’s. Burt Spangler will
continue to provide assistance in this area while a replacement is sought.
The Media Development Center supports faculty and
academic staff throughout the instructional process, beginning with
instructional and curricular assistance and continuing through classroom
support: facilities design, operations and maintenance and repair of classroom
equipment. The MDC also provides communications and technology support across
the campus.
Satz also announced that with the retirement this month
of Richard Dirks from the Information and Technology Management unit, copyright
issues will be handled by McIntyre Library staff. Patents and other intellectual
property issues will be the responsibility of the Office of Research and
Sponsored Programs.
