MAILED: May 24, 2001
EAU CLAIRE—The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Arts and Sciences will offer an
eight-session course titled “Painting In and Out.”
The class will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday
through Thursday, June 18-21 and June 25-28, in Room 212 of the Haas Fine Arts
Center.
The course will offer instruction in watercolor technique
and will include studio exercises designed to explore value, composition and the
possibilities of the limited palette. In good weather, the class will travel to
selected sites to experience painting outdoors in natural light. Participants
may register as advanced beginners or as intermediate or advanced painters.
Janet Carson, retired UW-Eau Claire art professor, will
teach the course. In the past few years, Carson has attended watercolor
workshops with several well-known artists and has painted in France, Guatemala
and the Greek islands.
Indoor sessions will include a lunch break. Students will
be asked to bring a bag lunch for outdoor sessions.
The $100 course fee covers instruction and some
materials. The registration deadline is June 11.
