EAU CLAIRE—Management faculty from
the management and marketing department of the University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire’s College of Business recently recognized two students with Outstanding
Management Major Awards.
Seniors Hilary Bridger, Cumberland, and Sean
Kirwan, Turtle Lake, each received $100 and a plaque.
“Receiving the Outstanding Management Major Award was
an incredible honor. I was very proud,” Bridger said.
The management faculty created the award to recognize
management majors for their scholastic achievement and extra-curricular
involvement at UW-Eau Claire.
Eligible students were seniors graduating in May, August
or December with a 3.0 or above cumulative grade-point average, a 3.5 GPA in
management classes and active involvement as an intern or as an officer or
leader in a student organization.
According to Dr. Ken De Meuse, professor of management,
the management faculty then chose five students who stood out among the forty
eligible students.
Among those five students, two received awards and three
were chosen as Distinguished Management Majors. Seniors Jamie Lacke, Edgar,
Colin Crimmins, Arden Hills, Minn., and Vanessa Gallagher, Prior Lake,
Minn., all received framed certificates.
The five students were honored at a luncheon Friday,
April 27, in the Dulany Inn with the management faculty.
“It means a lot when the whole management faculty pays
tribute to a person’s success,” Bridger said.
“The management faculty at UW-Eau Claire has a lot to
do with the quality of the students who graduate.” Kirwan added.
The 10 members of the management side of the management
and marketing department funded the Outstanding Management Major award. Members
donated their own money for the two $100 awards; the department purchased the
plaques and certificates.
“Hopefully this will become an annual award,” De
Meuse said.
